Wolfburn
Wolfburn Distillery mit einem neuen Small Batch Bottling, das auf 6.000 Fl. limitiert ist. Der neue Wolfburn „Batch 270“ ist der Nachfolger des letztjährigen „Batch 128“.
In 2014 erwarb die Brennerei eine Partie ungewöhnlich kleiner frischer Bourbon Barrel (ca. 100 Liter). 30 dieser Fässer sind mit getorftem New Spirit befüllt worden und 30 mit ungetorftem Wolfburn New Spirit. „Batch 270“ ist nun abgefüllt aus den 30 100-Liter-Fässern, in denen der ungetorfte Wolfburn Spirt reifte. Dadurch kommen die üppigen Vanillenoten und die Süße des frischen ex Bourbon Fasses besonders gut zur Geltung.
Original Tasting Notes von Dave Broom:
- Nose: Fresh and lightly fruity; the aroma of tinned pears and apple combined with the sweet dustiness of a woollen mill and a light vegetal note behind. Has this mix of sweetness which flirts with oiliness, but then bursts into fragrant white fruit blossom. Water brings out a more obviously youthful side, but there’s real class here.
- Taste: Direct, with quite fleshy fruit – those apples and pears with added ripe melon, some sweet mash, while the florals are more bluebell-like. The mid-palate remains sweet and well-balanced. Again only on the back-palate (and with water) do you get the sense of its age.
